Fresh out of an early Maine estate collection.
19thc. Unusual set of antique gambling (Pope John Loo Whist) - bovine bone chip set. Held in four wooden boxes with hand-painted tops within handled wood tray. Total of ninety-seven (97) chips, each stained and with etched/scraped design. Old portrait in pencil on bottom of tray, notations on bottom of one of the boxes. Cases shows some wear, one tray corner has small crack - one foot a little loose, needs a drop of glue. The tray, with boxes, measures approximately 10 1/8" x 6 3/8" x 2", including brass handles and ball feet. For size, the longer rectangular chips measure approximately 2 3/16" x 13/16".  Please see photos as to type and condition. You are bidding on all in photos.
