All of the art work and collectibles being sold by Adams-Byrd Fine Art & Antiques have been collected and selected one at a time by the proprietor, an art historian with many years of training and experience in university art history departments, museums, galleries, and historic sites both in the U.S. and abroad.  The business has been based in the Washington, D.C. area for many years.  The art and collectibles that we are offering to eBay buyers are special and unique pieces that have been carefully “curated” by us.
This beautiful pineapple shaped basket was created by hand by an American artist.
It has been in our basket collection for quite a few years, and we think it now deserves a new home --- perhaps one where there is a pineapple theme in the collection.
It is dated (either 3/97 or 3/77) and signed Gail B ……….. on the bottom.
We have never been able to make out the basket maker’s last name.
Perhaps you will recognize the signature.
We purchased this (in the late 1990s?) from a private collector who did not recall the maker’s last name.
The basket is solid and sturdy.
At the top it is tinted / colored green.
Around the “neck” there is a band of thin green raffia tied into a decorative bow.
If you don’t like this added decoration, you can easily remove it --- and make the pineapple more minimalist.
Use it as a decorative display piece either upright or on its side.
Use it in the center of a grapevine or greenery wreath (on a door or wall where it will not be exposed to the weather).
On a mantel or on a ledge above a door, use it as part of a traditional Williamsburg display (perhaps combined with other basket fruit).
Have a lamp store turn it into a lamp, secured to a base with the metal pole (to hold the socket and harp) behind it.
If you collect fruit art objects (made from various interesting materials) this would be great as part of a grouping in a very large bowl / vessel / tray.

The pineapple basket is under 11” tall; the “body” of the basket is under 7” in height and about 6 ½” in diameter at its widest.
When we photographed it, in some of the photos we moved the raffia trim / decoration up so that you could get a good look at the top rim of the basket.
All items we sell are from a pet free and smoke free environment – unless prior owner history is noted above.

Payment
