Vintage Wine Carrier Basket ~ Ashwood Basket Company ~ Made in Jaffrey, NH / USA
Vintage splint wood picnic basket with removable wine shelf/riser.  Very rare.
The riser allows for three wine bottles to lay beneath it so other items can be placed on top of the basket shelf.
It has two swivel handles, and is hand woven with brass nails individually hammered.
There is some fading of the lid...assuming from light exposure.  No splits or cracks in the weaving.
This vintage split wood basket was made in the USA by the Jaffrey, New Hampshire based company Ashwood Basket Corp. While the company is no longer in business, this classic basket will live on for generations, with timeless look and fine craft. This is a wonderful, rare basket, and definitely a collectible piece
Ashwood Basket Co. located in Jaffrey, NH was created in 1984 by an unhappy former factory foreman from Peterboro Baskets. After a factory fire, Ashwood Basket Company struggled, and has since closed its doors.
